Founded in 1849, Pfizer was originally formed as a manufacturer of fine chemicals. However, the company’s path would change forever in 1950 with the discovery of the antibiotic Terramycin. Now, this New York-based behemoth is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world.
Pfizer is now know for drugs like Lipitor and Viagra. The company has acquired several big names over the years including Warner-Lambert, Wyeth and Pharmacia to become one of the world’s largest scientific research-based pharmaceutical companies.
