Maryland – Washington, DC Rank #5 on GEN Biopharma Cluster List
Last month, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology News (GEN) released its 2015 ranking of the top 10 biopharma clusters in the United States. The top 10 for 2015 consists of the same group as 2014, however there were some shift’s within the rankings. Most notably, the Boston-Cambridge, MA area replaced the San Francisco, CA Bay Area for the number 1 spot.

FDA Drug Approvals in 2014 – Up 18% Over 2013
FDA drug approvals in the United States hit their highest level in 18 years, as there were 41 novel medicines approved in 2014. Driven by expensive new treatments for rare diseases as well as cancer, recommendations in Europe also came at a rapid rate.
