New Gene Identified As Cause, Early Indicator of Breast Cancer

In March, studies conducted at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University learned “when mutated, a gene known for its ability to repair DNA, appears to instead cause breast cancer, scientists report”. These studies, published in the American Journal of Pathology, were performed on an international sampling from 254 cases of breast cancer in pre- and postmenopausal women. Diet Choices Impact Sleep Quality

Is it true that diet impacts sleep quality? In this new study, those that eat less fiber, more saturated fat and more sugar are more likely to have less restorative and more disrupted sleep.

The main finding: diet quality influenced sleep quality. Principal investigator Marie-Pierre St-Onge, PhD, said “it was most surprising that a single day of greater fat intake and lower fiber could influence sleep parameters”.
